The city of Peoria, Illinois was named for the Peoria tribe of the Iliniwek Confederacy who once lived here.  The Potawatomi also lived along the Illinois River.

With utmost respect and humility, I honor the Iliniwek and Potawatomi peoples,  their deep connection to this land, and their rich cultural heritage. It is with endless gratitude that I say “Thank you!” for this opportunity to live, learn, and work on your ancestral land.
