Psychopomp: Helping our loved ones and others cross over
Psychopomp is a funny-sounding word, used to describe a shamanic practice that is, in fact, thousands of years old. The word comes from the Greek “psyche,” meaning “soul, or mind,” and “pompos,” meaning “conductor or guide.”
A psychopomp is a shamanic practitioner, who serves as a guide, to help souls of people who have passed, to the Light, or the afterlife.
Sometimes, when someone dies, their soul does not pass on into the Light, so that they can go to their next destination – they stay stuck here on earth. This can happen when someone dies suddenly, as a shock to them, or they are upset that they did not get to do something in their life. Sometimes, when people die in a war or disaster, some do not immediately pass on.
Sometimes, when we feel that there is a “ghost” or a “presence” in a home or building, it is because there is a soul of a person who died, but has not yet crossed over, who is still in the building. Then, psychopomp can be a part of energetically “cleaning” a house or building.
The shamanic practitioner works in the spirit world to help and guide the soul to the Light, so that they can move on, and be at peace. This is often a process, but sometimes it is fairly fast. Psychopomp can help you, and others who remain here, to find peace knowing that the person you cared about is safe, healed, and at peace.
I “fell into” psychopomp by “accident” years ago, when I was invited over to a new house that a friend had purchased. He could feel that it was “haunted.” I had a conversation with the soul of the person who had passed, and guided them back to the Light. I had not had training, or had even heard the word “psychopomp.” Yet, I knew that this was something I was called to do to help.
I was able to help guide that soul to go back to the Light. Please contact me if you would like to talk about psychopomp services for your loved one, or as part of clearing your space.
